VINPOCETINE

An alkaloid from Vinca minor (Lesser Periwinkle), vinpocetine has been used clinically in Europe and Asia for over 20 years. Vinpocetine selectively enhances cerebral circulation and oxygen utilization, and protects neurons by increasing the brain’s ability to function in situations of low oxygen tension, with the end result being enhanced cognitive performance. This alkaloid inhibits phosphodiesterase and platelet aggregation, and supports red blood cell fluidity.
