The Compendium is a compilation of History, Facts, Research, and Reports. A review of the Compendium reveals that Kombucha was introduced as early as 220 BC in China during the Tsing - Dynasty its magical powers were thought to insure immortality. In the year 414 BC, the Japanese Emperor Inkyo sought a physician to cure his digestive troubles. Dr. Kombu was summoned from Korea to treat the Emperor with the Divine Che or Kombucha. Historians consider that Kombucha Tea was first used for its healing benefits in the Far East mainly Japan, China and Korea. As trade routes extended, oriental merchants exported it to Russia and then indirectly to Eastern Europe. Italy's high society had a real passion for this fermented tea. Scientific research in Switzerland found that drinking Kombucha Tea was beneficial and its popularity increased as it became widely available.

The compendium outlines extensive research as early as 1915. In 1959, the Russian researcher I. N. Konovalow reported that the potent growth of the Kombucha Tea directly suppressed the colonization and growth of other types of yeast’s and bacteria. Prof. G. F. Barbancik, reported in 1958 that the Kombucha Tea energetically suppressed the growth of all other microbes. Scientific exploration of Kombucha commenced in the 1950's with the Moscow Bacteriological Institute. They discovered that it was not, as initially thought, a single organism but a symbiotic colony of several bacteria and yeast’s with highly complex and sophisticated metabolic pathways This group of organisms shows a distinct antibiotic effect through the presence of usnic acid which deactivates certain groups of viruses.

Kombucha seems to be effective against a wide spectrum of diseases in that it systemically detoxifies the whole body a beneficial effect that invigorates the entire person and the body is much more able to heal itself. For cancer patients, this detoxification process is triggered by the ingestion of glucuronic acid found in the Kombucha Tea.
